Next season's ticket arrangements
|
Next year it seems there will be no physical 'season ticket' and it will all be done by a phone app. You will also need separate ID. All of which means it will be nigh-on impossible to transfer a ticket to a mate if you can't go. All a bit of a faff.

Ticket office told me they will email the ticket which you can print off so no problem in sending to a mate

I posted in another thread about trying to make a game when I’m visiting March 2022. What is the sense as to how stadiums will look in the coming season? US stadiums are pretty much back to full capacity.

There were no ID checks for the Southampton game, just that you had a ticket

You'll still be able to pass on to a mate, it'll just have to be done through the official channels.

For the Southampton game I had digital ticket on my phone but was also able to download a pdf of my ticket which I printed just in case there was a problem with the digital copy. I imagine it will be the same next season so you will be able to email a spare ticket to a mate.

Yes had digital ticket for Southampton but you could print off if wanted.
Had ticket for England on Sunday and again digital ticket. No ID check. You could transfer your ticket to someone else though - easily done via their ticket app so it could be possible for us.

It's going to be a nightmare. Once I'm in the olympic park I find that my phone battery dies quickly. Does anyone else have this problem?

Is there is a link to info on how this will work?
Not sure how that would work though - like what if you're taking a 7 year old? What if your phone dies? With 60000 people you're going to have a lot of people whose phones will die at any one time.

Did it download to your wallet app or did you have to install a special WHU or ticketmaster app?

Fifth. No there is no plan nor information which is part of the problem. The ticket office staff are vague on all this.
The issue will be whether the separate ID checks are for track and trace or club purposes. If it is for track and trace then there should be no issue as the ticket address and the track and trace information do not need to correspond.
If the club is, in order to crack down of ticket transfers outside their own mechanisms, looking to marry up both checks then it will be more problematic.
Hopefully the club will provide some clarity. Don't hold your breath though.

I re newed yesterday and the ticket office said they will email your tickets a week before each game.
I think it'll still be easy to give your tickets to friends and family as its impossible to ID 60k people before a game.
If your ticket for some reason doesn't work at the gate you will however have to show ID when getting a new one at the ticket office - this happened to my mate at Southampton game !
In summary as long as your ticket works on the gate you won't have a problem regarding ID etc.

I hope you are right, Maverick. I renewed yesterday too and got through in five minutes. Looks like either the majority have renewed online or well ahead of deadline or that demand is (not unexpectedly) lower.

I reckon they'll have record renewal levels given our performance last season.

While I don't have any massive objections to this, I'm really struggling to see how it's better, cheaper or more efficient than the current access card system?
Unless they had to keep sending people replacement cards or vast numbers of people kept forgetting them and clogging up the ticket office windows each week?

Fifth. You would think so wouldn't you? Hopefully that would also translate into a decent atmosphere.

My wife doesn’t have a smart phone and our printer at home is knackered, so I had to download both tickets onto my phone for the Southampton match.
All well and good, until, inexplicably, I lost the signal on my phone and the tickets froze in the wallet app just as we were about to enter the turnstile. We had to stand and wait until the signal came back so I could fully access the tickets again.
